그 아줌마 집이 있는데,
사랑의 묘약 9번이 담긴
병을 팔아요.

아줌마에게 말했어요.
난 여자관계에 있어선 실패자였고
1956년이래 쭉 그래 왔다고
아줌마는 내 손바닥을 보더니
신기한 표시를 했어요.
"당신이 필요한 건
사랑의 묘약 9번이야" 라고 말했어요.

그녀는 허리를 구부리고 돌아보더니
내게 윙크를 했어요.
그리고 바로 여기 세면대에서
그 약을 만들어주겠다고 했지요.
그건 테레빈 냄새가 났고
마치 먹처럼 보였어요
난 코도 막고 눈도 감았지요.
그리고 마셨어요.

난 밤인지 낮인지도 몰랐어요
눈에 보이는 건 모두 키스를 하고 다녔지요.
하지만 '34번 넝쿨 가에서
한 경찰한테 키스를 했을 때
경찰은 그 병을
사랑의 묘약 9번 병을 깨버렸어요.

난 낮과 밤도 구분 못하고
눈에 보이는 건 죄다 키스를 하고 다녔지요.
정말 재미있었어요.
그래서 다시 그 아줌마한테 갈 거예요.
사랑의 묘약 10번을 마시면
어떻게 될지 궁금하거든요.

4인조 록그룹 '써쳐스'는 영국의  소도시 리버풀에서 결성 되었는데, 1963년  비슷한 시기에  비틀즈와 같이

 데뷔 하였고  또 같은  도시에서  활동을  했다는 것이  가끔  이곡이  비틀즈의  곡으로 오인 되기도  했다.
